I unlock about 150 cars a month and a majority of the people serviced damaged their own vehicles by trying to unlock their car door with the wrong tools. It is beyond tempting to try and “break in” to your own car if you lock your keys in it, and sometimes people get it right but usually there is damage.
Some of the tools I have found stuck in car doors or see laying around that people have tried using include: Knives, Screwdrivers, crowbars, Rulers, sticks, fishing line, Rope, String, Tennis balls, dental tools, Hammers!, Curtain Rods, Wires, spatchulas, door stops, baseball bats!, and one time a torch (WTF)… Sure you can open a car door with a crowbar and a long reaching tool of sorts, BUT you will really mess up your car BAD. Spending a few bucks or a Few Hundred in damage?? You need 2 or 3 simple tools to open a car door, but they must be designed specifically to do just that. Our tools are designed for safety and damage free jobs. Even our reach tools are coated in a protective coating as to not scratch your car and designed to specific diameters, lengths, and malleability.
It is your car and your choice but think it through a bit before you start shoving tools and gadgets in to your door, windows, or keyway.
