Locksmith Rant

Before calling a locksmith when you are locked out of your home or car you should exhaust all other options of getting back in. Calling a locksmith and requesting them to come out should be the last thing you do after you he given up on all other options. Al to often locksmiths are called out to help someone late at night or anytime really and while in route of on arrival they find out the person got in their own car with a tool or climbed through a window in a home to get back in. As a human being we are very happy for you that you got back in to your property yourself and saved yourself money and time, but as a locksmith we are a little frustrated that we have stopped our lives and what we were doing to get packed up, load up in our vehicle, leave our family at night, battle weather and cold to drive 20 minutes toward you while burning up our gasoline and time. We have lost time, money, and energy. Time we can never get back, money we need. Locksmiths are not a public service like a fireman or police – we do not get paid o go out on calls that cancel. The entire ordeal can waste 1 hour or so of our time – So Please! Call us AFTER you have tried all the tricks to get back to your locked home or property. Not only do we lose the service call fee when you cancel – we lose time, gas, and money trying to rush to help you.

We appreciate your business but it is just common courtesy that locksmiths ask for.

Many times people call 2 or 3 locksmiths and see which one gets there first. Shopping around to save money is encouraged but calling 2 locksmiths to the same job will get you  no help in most cases. If 2 professional locksmiths arrive and bump heads the industry standard thing to do is both locksmiths leave without helping you.
